Character Sketch

Okay so I am getting the idea that my lull in writing can be cured by doing writing exercises. Courses force me to think outside my very own four walls.

Unless I am reading too fast or my thinking is not in line with the course layout. It requires that we do a Character Sketch. Though it has not broken down what that is. So I have asked my friend google about it and come across this entry on the Journeys into Grace blog  in which she breaks down a Character sketch as requiring the following info: personality, physical features, likes dislikes, family history/life, hobbies, beliefs etc.

So here goes. I think Laila has been retired for when I actually write a book so Tina it is which was my favourite name for a girl as child. It no longer is but hey.

Tina Brown

Just looking at her you would think she was a character plucked out of the Rosa Guy book The Friends big breasted Beulah. She was plentiful at top with a small cinched in waist that gave her an hourglass figure of sorts. Tina disliked references to her curvy frame, she felt the attention was better spent on her state of mind and her achievements. Today was a special day so she opted for her signature look. Her hair pulled high into a bun, eyes adorned in gold eyeshadow with thin black eyeliner and cheeks slightly golden. Tina completed her look with MAC's classic red lip Ruby Woo.

Before leaving the house she grabbed the essentials of this modern age. Mobile phones, car keys, tablet and a Britons best friend an umbrella. A last minute once over in the mirror before heading out the door she smiled and headed out. As she sat in her car she double checked she had enough time to reach her destination switched on the engine and began the journey.

Fact and Fiction Exercise

1 fact 3 Fictitious

In Autumn when the leaves fall off the tree, Laila observes the changes that take place in the leaves. Laila likes to walk in the park. She likes to take in the fresh air and feel the breeze against her skin. Often the carefree laughter of children playing in the background brings a smile to her face. Reminding her that she does have childhood memories full of fun and glee.

3 Facts 1 Fictitious

Observing the sunset in the park is a joy for Laila. She notes the colours that remind her of autumn the sudden lack of light in the clouds as the sun goes down. The stars become clearer as they twinkle in the in the sky. The moon on a good day gives it's dull night light to the world. The tranquility is only disturbed when thoughts of pigs flying come to mind.

About this blog...

This blog is just to showcase what I learn as I try to focus on writing a book. I am currently taking part in Future Learns Writing Fiction Course. It lasts 8 weeks. I have previously tried to do writing courses but have been bored by them. As this one is free I will make use of it.

If through this my writing progresses I will share such on my main blog. This one will just catalogue what I learn and let me try new skills etc.
